First, I want to thank everyone who left comments here or at Flickr on the stitch school entries. It helped keep me motivated knowing people appreciated the work. This is the first time I have tried a long series, and to be honest I wasn't sure if I would make it to the end. It has been some work to make the samplers and take the photos. But it turned out to be quite enjoyable to take a closer look at some different stitches, some of which I use often and some never. So often we just use the stitches in the standard way without much thought about how we could vary them to get a special effect. But now the idea is there, and it can be built on. It's definitely worth a small amount of time to just practice a little, even if you don't have hours and hours to spend. After you have done a stitch a few times, it becomes part of your stitching experience. Then it's easier to think of the stitches when you work a project because they are closer to you than otherwise.
I put together a little mosaic of all the samplers, just for fun.
I have no idea if I will put them together in some way. I might because it would be nicer than a bunch of loose cloths. I will say these are definitely fun to have.
As for what's next. This isn't the last time I will do this sort of thing, but I don't know what form the next presentation will take. I am contemplating some sort of stitch shcool as early as this fall, but it will be shorter. I will be considering what might be interesting to do!

We have been so lucky to follow your stich serie! Let's see what you prepare us in the future ;) Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been remiss in posting comments! I loved this series (that's why I started following your blog!) and found your explanations and variations on the stitches to be so helpful!
ReplyDeleteI love these tutorials so much and when you look at them all together you can see how much work they are. THANK YOU. I think they'd make an amazing quilt.. or they'd look great as a gallery of framed photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the way they look all together. One of these days I am actually gonna try out some new stitches. Thanks for sharing! Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous altogether like this! You really should make them into something and frame them. I cannot THANK you enough for this most informative tutorial and will refer to it for inspiration and I look forward to your next one too.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I have never posted a comment. I have religiously follwed your embroidery series. I love it and plan to make a quilt sampler out of all the squares. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
ReplyDeleteI think this would be a great poster! I'd put it up in my craft corner at home.
