Soon Halloween!

Fall and Halloween are a great time of year. The colors, the cool air, the candy, the monsters, it's all great. I just needed a little project to get me back into stitching a bit. We've been out everyday last week and the weekend working on carting away the broken part of our barn that is being re-built. I can tell you it is a lot of work! But beautiful fall weather makes it very enjoyable to be outside. And this time of year, thoughts turn to Halloween too. I really liked this little design I made, so I thought it could be an easy project for me, and it was. ;)
I made it into a flat ornament. After I glued together the front and back I wrapped a fuzzy yarn around the edge two times. (We embroiderers should definitely not let the knitters have all the yarn fun!)
I tried glueing it down first, that was a bust. The glue got in the fuzz. Then I tried couching it all down, but that made little bumps where the couching stitches sat, and the fuzzies were all smooshed down. So I just used a little glue to tuck the ends in the gap between the front and back sections and made a few stitches in each corner to hold down the yarn. It works well enough and the fuzzies are still free.

So what's next. I'm contemplating making an embroidery version and doing that, but it needs to be soon, Halloween is very close now. Otherwise, some naturey-themed projects are calling to me!
