Buttonhole Stitch TAST Week 2

I am slow posting this! I did actually have it done on Friday.
Lately I've been interested in stitches that can be layered for interesting effects, so that is what I focused on in this sampler. There are many ways to layer the blanket (buttonhole) stitch when stitching in a straight line. All my straight rows are collected there in the middle. I then tried some different ways of layering the buttonhole wheels. Those are fun and lend themselves well to layering. The variation that I thought was most interesting was the curved line. After I stitched it and looked at it from a distance, I saw something that would make an interesting bending leaf/branch for a tree or plant. My arc got a little uneven at the end, but try to look past that.

I think I will use it in a project soon. I tried a few variations, managed to find one that will be useful to me, that's a success in my book.

Next week - or I should say this week, I'm going to be a bit quicker!!

  1. A great sampler, I love the way you have layered the stitches

What sort of material do you use for your samplers, is it linen? (I hope you don't mind my asking)
Looking forward to seeing what you do for next week
