I have been busy so far this weekend! Here is my herringbone sampler:
1. The basic stitch.
2. This stitch can be varied horizontally and vertically. The possibilities are numerous.
3. An example of a threaded and woven herringbone stitch. There are other ways to wrap, thread, and whip this stitch.
4. Layered herringbone stitch. This has a really lovely texture and feeling.
5. Rows of herringbone can be stacked on top of each other with different sorts of alignments.
6. Herringbone broken into discrete units.
7. An irregular, but repeating herringbone variation.
8. Herringbone is well suited to fill irregular shape. Add extra interest by changing the spacing of the stitch.
I am nearly caught up with these. I realized that I am missing a sampler for the buttonhole stitch, so I will try to do that this week when I work on the next stitch. These samplers take me about 3 hours to do. It does take a bit of time, but not so much. And they are great to have. I really need to figure out a way to collect them all together though! By the end of the year there will be many of them.
Looks lovely, and very methodical.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to have a lot of these made with different stitches. Maybe you could bind them together into a sort of book?
