TAST Time

I made a little couching sample for this week's stitch. I decided to try something a bit different.
I did a little weaving - very simple with wool yarns, plant-dyed. I cut yarns and left them long. The outside yarns wanted to fall out, but I pushed together as much as I could, then couched down the lose threads, but not the whole way out to their ends. Then I added a couched border. I ended up first couching the threads down with regular small straight stitches to anchor down the yarn. I really wanted to anchor it down with something a bit more unusual, but it just didn't work going around a circle. So after I couched down the yarns, I stitched over them with cretan stitch. It was fun.  It's not a composition, just a sample of using couching in a different way. There is much more you can do with it. One of the most fun things I ever saw was couching down rolled up candy wrappers. The added sparkle!
